Ongoing courses

The group classes I offer are suitable for students at a level of B1 or above. To find out if there is a group class for you, check out my schedule below. My schedule does change on a regular basis so do get in touch even if you can't immediately find a class at the right time.

Conversation classes

C1/C2 conversation - Wednesdays 9:45 - 10:45am via Zoom (3 places)

An inspiring class for advanced learners who don't want to lose their strong English skills. This class is also a useful add-on for anyone studying for the Cambridge Advanced or Proficiency exams.

B1 General English - Fridays 1:30 - 2:30pm in person (2 places)

Want to improve your grammar and vocabulary? In this friendly and welcoming class we will be working with Destination B1 and will be doing lots of speaking. It's a great class for anyone who wants to feel more confident and boost their job prospects.

B2 General English - Mondays 8:15 - 9:15am in person (full)

One week we discuss an article we've read and the next week we work with a grammar and vocabulary coursebook. This group is currently full but contact me if you want to go on the waiting list.

B2 Business English via Zoom (starting soon)

I'd like to start an online B2 class. Possible time is Wednesday morning from 8:30am to 9:30am. Get in touch soon if you'd like to feel more confident with your English.

Exam preparation classes

With expert tips and encouragement, I have helped hundreds of students pass the Cambridge exam they needed. If you are looking for support, I specialise in exam preparation classes for Cambridge exams at levels B2 First, C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency. Read more about these classes here.

Individual lessons

I have a limited number of slots available for private lessons. My schedule changes quite often so the best thing to do is to get in touch.

Private lessons are available as follows:

  • Nachhilfe English - from age 10 onwards

  • Nachhilfe maths - age 10 - 18

  • English for business professionals

  • English for fun - any age, for people who enjoy using their brains

The prices for group classes and individual lessons are shown on the homepage.

Group classes

Are you thinking of joining a group class? Here are a few things you need to know:

Benefits of group classes

Cost

Group classes cost less than one-to-one lessons. This means you can have more lessons for the same amount of money!

Meet other students

If you like people, then group classes could be for you. You'll be encouraged to study hard by seeing the progress you and your classmates are making. An added benefit is that you'll be able to swap tips about hobbies, favourite holiday destinations, good restaurants, enjoyable hikes and much more.

More explanations

The nice thing about group lessons is that students can explain what they've learned to the other students. This is confidence building and a great way of learning.

Build your communication skills

In a group lesson, you'll also be able to practice a variety of language skills, such as leading a conversation, making small talk, doing a presentation and joining a group chat.

Possible disadvantages of group classes

Slightly mixed levels

It's unlikely that the people in your group will be exactly the same level as you. You might have to study with someone who is slightly ahead of you or not quite as good. Luckily I have plenty of experience of teaching mixed groups and for most of my students this is not a problem at all.

Less flexibility

The group lessons are planned for a semester at a time (excluding the school holidays). Group lessons can't be rescheduled and sometimes you might have to miss a lesson. If you do miss the lesson, you still have to pay for it. However, I do send you the notes after each lesson so you will be able to catch up at home.

Trial lesson

The best way of knowing whether group lessons are for you is to try one. Contact me here to find out more about the group lesson that is right for you.

Individual classes

Benefits of individual lessons

Learn at your pace

Individual lessons allow you to study English as fast or as slowly as you like.

Focus on your interests

In the individual classes we talk about the topics that you are interested in - your work, your holidays, your hobbies and much more.

Flexibility

You have control over the content of your lessons and can choose whether to work with a course book or not.

If you want to practice your presentation skills, I'll help you. If you want to boost your writing skills, I'll show you some strategies to help (which don't rely on you asking AI), if you want to find the right word in conversations, you'll need to practice speaking in English - again I can help.

Schedule

There is more flexbility in scheduling individidual lessons. Group lessons are offered at specific times which may not fit into your busy schedule.

Possible disadvantages of individual lessons

Cost

Individual lessons cost more than group classes but are a fantastic investment.

Limited real-life experience

Individual lessons don't offer room to practice your English with fellow students nor do they offer the same opportunities to meet new people.

The best way of knowing whether individual lessons are right for you is to try one. Contact me here to find out more about the group lesson that is right for you.
