Are you interested in maintaining and improving your English? Perhaps you don't have time for a weekly lesson but do want to use your English with real people.

If so, a book club might be the right choice. It's great if you:

  • enjoy reading

  • like discovering new authors

  • want to practice speaking in a friendly environment

  • are curious about language

  • want to meet other English learners

My Monday evening book club has been going since 2017 and in that time we've read over 50 books - probably more than 2 million words! In 2024 I started a Tuesday evening book club because the Monday one was full. This also quickly filled up so I then started a Friday evening book club (Friday evenings in Kreis 6 from 7.30pm to 9pm.) Book clubs are great if your English skills are slightly rusty and you want to improve them. The cost is 300chf per year which includes six sessions (approximately one every two months).

How the book clubs work

We agree to read a short book (approx 200 pages) and meet up to discuss it. I'll share a few tips on vocabulary and grammar based on the book then let you do the talking either in a group or in pairs. At the end of each session, there will be some feedback to help you feel more confident with your English.

Book clubs are a sociable space where people exchange opinions, give advice to each other and share their experiences. The Friday evening book club will help you meet new people, discover more about yourself and improve your English.

Get in touch soon, if you'd like to join. The group is limited to six people and there are just two spaces left.
