Seebodenalp is one of my favourite places in Switzerland, a place that I go back to time and time again. I never cease to be amazed by the incredible views I get when hiking there. I've been to Seebodenalp in spring, summer, and winter but today was the first time that I'd been there in autumn. I wasn't disappointed!
We opted for the panorama trail today, which takes just 90 minutes and is relatively gentle. That wasn't enough though, so instead of heading back to our starting point, we followed the yellow signs towards Weggis. These led us to a path offering spectacular views of Pilatus, Lake Lucerne and the mountains beyond. From our vantage point, we tried to identify towns such as Weggis and Beckenried which we had cycled through on this recent bike trip.
I had been worried that autumn was already over but needn't have been. The sun was shining and the trees were looking absolutely gorgeous, yellows, oranges, reds and greens, a truly golden autumn day.
Distance: 10.5km
Elevation gain: 350 metres
Best thing: the views, the trees and the quieter paths
Useful info: to get to Seebodenalp you can go by car or better still, take the gondola from Küssnacht am Rigi.
