I've just started reading Milkman by Anna Burns for the January book club and I've realised that the vocabulary is really quite tough - but very interesting. I've set up a Vocabulary set on Quizlet for this book which might be quite useful for people reading the book. It makes sense for the members of the book club to add words to this list so I'll set it up so that this is possible. You just need to have a Quizlet account to do this and to be a member of the book club group on Quizlet. Anyone can access the set using this link.
Apparently the book doesn't make it clear where it is set although the reviews say that it's set in Belfast in the 1970s. For those of you who want to know a bit about the history of Northern Ireland at this time, this clip from the BBC archive might be a starting point (you'll need a Facebook account).
